Entering the final day of competition at the 2016 Arctic Winter Games, Team Alaska holds a commanding lead with 198 medals — double the awards of second-place Team Yukon.
On Thursday, at the tournament in Nuuk, Greenland, athletes from Nome contributed three of those medals.
Bianca Trowbridge won bronze in Junior Women’s Mass Start, a Biathlon Ski event. She took third place with a time of 39 minutes, 51 seconds. That’s her second bronze medal in the competition. The first came in the six-kilometer sprint.
Drew Dewberry also earned his second award of the Games. He won silver in Open Men’s Dene Hand Games to go with his gold medal in Open Men’s Snow Snake.
Kim Clark also medaled in Dene Hand Games. She took bronze in the Junior Women’s event.
Team Alaska will finish the tournament on Friday, with competitions in seven events, including Arctic Sports, Cross Country Skiing, and Dene Games.
