Dearest Alaska: Nome – St. Lawrence Dance Group’s Practice

Audio Player

In the second episode of Dearest Alaska, we are joining the Nome – St. Lawrence Dancers for their weekly practice.

Phyllis Walluk leads us through a normal practice and explains the tradition of St. Lawrence Island song and dance. Phyllis explains how this meeting is both a time to come together to have fun and be goofy while also a time to focus on their culture.

Dearest Alaska is a new audio project; the program will be available on this website and broadcast live on the first Saturday and Sunday of every month at 12noon and 5pm on KNOM (96.1 FM, 780 AM).

If you or someone you know would like to participate in a episode of Dearest Alaska, please contact KNOM at 907-443-5221 or dearest.alaska@knom.org.
