In Their Own Words: Keynote Speakers from the Kawerak Regional and Rural Providers Conference

The Kawerak Regional and Rural Providers conference offered workshops, meetings, and talking circles addressing a host of triumphs and challenges in western Alaska. Each day began with a keynote speaker, whose message was aired on KNOM each morning.

Above, click to hear from the first day’s keynote speaker, Lucy Apatiki, who delivered an address titled “Intergenerational Trauma: Past is Present.”

Below, you can listen to the other keynote speakers from all four days of the conference.

On the second day of the conference, Darlene Trigg delivered an address on racial equity.

The third keynote speaker was Andrea Irrigoo, giving a speech on community involvement and building character.

On the final day of the conference, keynote speaker Donna Barr delivered a keynote address entitled “Embrace with Change.”

Editor’s note: KNOM experienced some technical issues during some of the keynote broadcasts. There is an audible “hiss” in some of the recordings, and the recording drops out occasionally.
