Photos: Huslia Offers Stellar Hospitality, Most Mushers Stop To Partake

First into Huslia on Thursday night, Aaron Burmeister raved about the welcome the community had waiting. Warm water, a potluck, and beds for mushers made for a great opportunity to recover from the bitter cold temperatures, which dipped down to -50F at times.

Many mushers were happy to take advantage of the amenities to work through some of their mandatory layover time. Others, however, could not be pulled off course. The first to leave Huslia were Aliy Zirkle and Mitch Seavey who spent a quick 12 minutes and 31 minutes in the checkpoint, respectively.
