  • Roger in White Mountain voiced his fear that mental illness is treated too often with medications.
  • Clara in Nome asked about memory loss and how BHS could possibly help.
  • Michael in Emmonak talked about the importance of maintaining cultural identity and traditions, especially through eating a Native diet, staying physically active and talking to elders.
  • J Paul in Nome shared his thoughts about how often the medical industry can cause fear, and how he has found empowerment through educating himself.
  • Panganga in Nome noted an important shift from treatment to prevention, and voiced the importance of maintaining and growing a cultural connection as well as trusting in the wisdom of native communities to improve overall wellness.
  • Stacey commented on Facebook to ask our guests if they face any cultural barriers in their work at BHS. Dr. Droby responded with talk of language barriers and the importance of translators.
