‘Not Guilty’ Pleas for Two Indicted in Nome Heroin Busts

Two Nome residents facing charges related to selling and distributing heroin were in court this week—to hear a formal grand jury indictment of their charges.

Both 22-year-old Kevin Beamish and 22-year-old Yvonne Adkison have pleaded “not guilty” to the felony drug charges they now face.

The two were arrested last week in what Nome Police and Alaska State Troopers say is part of a year-long undercover operation.

Court documents allege Beamish sold heroin to an undercover officer multiple times over the past year. Adkison—featured on the Nome-based reality television show Bering Sea Gold—was later arrested after a search of her home revealed a stash of heroin, cash, and airline tickets in her name.

The grand jury handed down three felony drug charges for Adkison—including possessing and delivering a schedule One-A drug: heroin. Beamish faces eight felony drug charges—including multiple counts of delivery and possession.

After entering their “not guilty” pleas, Superior Court Judge Tim Dooley kept Adkison’s bail at $30,000, while Beamish’s likewise remained at $20,000. As of today neither have posted bail and both remain in custody at Anvil Mountain Correctional Center.

Earlier this week Beamish’s attorney requested his case be moved to Kotzebue under Judge Paul Roetman. It was unclear if the move was successful; for now, both Beamish and Adkison are due in the Nome court on Jan. 30 for their next hearing.
