On-Air Update: Monday, March 3 (12p)

Speed: Embrace it, or control it? This seems to be the question facing mushers for the early part of Iditarod 42.

A strategic decision divides two large packs of mushers, as some leap forward, letting their dogs speed ahead on the icy trail; and others play it safe, brake their dogs, and keep them more in-line with traditional run-rest plans.

Zachariah Hughes and Daynee Rosales talk in Studio A for the Monday KNOM Iditarod Update regarding mushers’ current standings and what lies ahead as they charge through some of the most technically difficult stretches of this 1000 mile race.

It’s definitely too early to weigh-in on any leaders. Only time will tell as strategies play out, moving some mushers ahead and counting others out.
