At Christmas, on-air: stories, drama, and celebrations

The holidays are upon us in Western Alaska, and during Christmas week, we’re featuring a variety of special programs.

The shows below are the highlights of our religious and dramatic programs for Christmastime; we posted yesterday about this year’s Christmas music shows.

A Christmas Carol: Radio Drama

Monday, Dec. 23: 8pm

A radio drama directed by Jay Stern and adapted by Producer Craig Wichman from the novella by Charles Dickens, this production returns to the heart of the 1843 story – of what its author called “a ghost story for Christmas.” (The original title page of A Christmas Carol is pictured above.) Produced by Quicksilver Radio Theater, seasoned New York actors, and talented engineers.

Old Time Radio Hour: The Nativity

Tuesday, Dec. 24 (Christmas Eve): 8:30-9:00pm

An Ave Maria Hour production of the timeless, biblical story of the Nativity, originally created and aired in the late ’30s and early ’40s in New York City.

Midnight Mass – Live
