Last week KNOM News Director Laureli Kinneen interviewed Senator Lisa Murkowski on the Arctic. After attending the Conference of Arctic Parlimentarians in Iceland, Murkowski was convinced that the US could play an important role in making the Arctic more relevant to the rest of the world.
Senator Murkowski is encouraging Secretary Clinton to designate an Ambassador to the Arctic. Murkowski says she feels tremendous pressure and responsibility as Alaska’s senior senator to educate those in Washington DC on the simple fact that the United States is an Arctic country.
