It’s Saturday morning, and the town of Nome is abuzz with snowmachines (literally: the sounds of revving snowmachine engines have been increasing steadily since Friday afternoon).
The excitement’s building for The Nome-Golovin Snowmachine Race, which begins in less than an hour from the outskirts of Nome; this year’s start/finish line is at the mouth of the Nome River.
Starting at 12noon, KNOM will bring you the race live, and we’ll be simulcast – and streamed online – on Kotzebue’s KOTZ Radio, as well!
We’ll also be live-blogging and posting photos from the race, right here on KNOM on the Trail.
In the meantime, here are a handful of racer interviews from Thursday’s sign-up meeting at the Nome Armory. All of these racers – and 49 others – will be screaming out of Nome in an hour!
