Musher Tom Thurston has scratched from Iditarod 38.
Thurston exited the race on Friday morning with 9 dogs. According to Iditarod’s official Eye on the Trail blog, he “cited his team’s performance as the main factor” in ending his run. Thurston planned to mush his dogs back to the McGrath checkpoint so that they could be taken to Anchorage.
Nine mushers have scratched so far in Iditarod 2010; 62 remain in the race.
