Musher Kathleen Frederick has scratched.
Frederick is the second rookie musher – and the sixth musher overall – to exit Iditarod 38. According to Iditarod’s Eye on the Trail blog, Frederick scratched at 9:50am Wednesday morning at the Rohn checkpoint. She had 14 dogs on her team and left the race “due to equipment and gear problems.”
As of 1:39pm on Wednesday afternoon, 65 mushers remain on the trail.
