A pack of mushers pulled out of the Nikolai checkpoint mid-morning on Wednesday. Among them was rookie musher Chris Adkins from Sand Coulee, Montana, the son of veteran musher Terry Adkins.
Chris Adkins took a few minutes just before his departure from Nikolai to talk with our trail reporter Laureli. Despite some sled trouble, he kept a cool demeanor as he talked about the race so far and the state of his dog team:
Chris Adkins left Nikolai at 9:10am Wednesday morning; he was in 49th position and had 11 dogs.
